Why play – Rocket League?
A game older than time itself; get the ball into the opponents net. Sure, it’s usually not done with six rocket powered battle cars, but you can’t argue it as a boring change. If you haven’t played Rocket League yet, you’ve probably been actively avoiding it. The concept is so simple while the skill ceiling is so complex, It’s not wonder this game has become a staple in esports.
It was inevitable for regular sports games to become esport favourites, such as FIFA and Formula 1, but mixing these two sports together became an unseen titan in the video game world. Everyone understands the concept, even the worst players in the world know what to do and how to do it – doing it, however, is the hard part.
If you watch high level rocket league, you might have no clue what’s going on. Musty flicks, wall pinches and air dribbling just look like pure witchcraft to the untrained eye. This can lead some people to believe that they’re never going to amount to anything in RL, forever to be suck in Bronze. This isn’t the case, however – training your muscle memory and learning new ways to score, save and position yourself on the field are more fun and satisfying than you might think. You also have to consider the fact that the game is connected to Steam Workshops, where people have submitted some incredible tools to help you hone your skills (Or some fun car play grounds to waste some hours in).
If you’re one of the people who’s just never got into the game but want something to play excessively, Rocket League is the game for you. Whether you’re into the competitive scene or just plain fun, there’s a game mode for you and your friends.
